Freedom Fund Portfolio

This week the public portfolio saw a slight dip in total value of roughly -2% due partly to the decreases in Palantir ($PLTR) share price this week. Teradyne ($TER) was upgraded by analysts and the stock is trending +7% tied to market sentiment around NIVIDIA’s Consumer Electronics Show presentation around the future of robotics and robotics being a major theme going into 2025. During the first few months of this year I will plan to continue to add to my new $SOFI position in the low-mid teens.

  • Friday Freedom Fund Purchase:

    • 2 shares of $SCHB - Schwab US Broad Market ETF

    • 10 shares of $SOFI - SoFi Technologies

Freedom Fund Background: I created the Freedom Fund as a public brokerage account back in October of 2022 to share that anyone with a social security # and a bank account can begin their investing journey by investing a couple hundred dollars a week. Every week and month I post on X (@GrahamInvesting) public updates about the purchases, exits, dividends, and growth of the fund if you want to follow in real time. The biggest obstacle people have to investing is just getting started so I decided to start a new account at $0 to start from nothing with you.

Quote of the Week

Creativity in adulthood often comes from being able to maintain the imaginative, curious, and unfiltered mindset we possess when we are children. When you are young and have an innocent mind you view the world with wonder, curiosity, and imagination. When you are young you aren't boxed in by societal norms or fears of judgment.

As you grow older, societal expectations can suppress your creativity. As adults we are often encouraged to prioritize productivity, conformity, and practicality over imagination. As societal pressures begin to encroach on your life so can self-doubt and fear of failure or criticism. This time period starts when cliques are formed in grade school, social groups are built in college, and the old reliable “Keeping up with the Joneses” begins to chip away at you in your 20s and 30s. Between structured education and life routines a lot of times your focus will shift away from trying something new and sticking to what is set in stone for safety or to fit in.

The "child who survived" in a creative adult refers to someone who has managed to preserve their wonder, curiosity, and imagination. Refuse to give into all societal pressures and expectations as you age. Try and hold onto a piece of your childhood creativity and don’t forget to explore/express it. Creativity can thrive when we hold onto the essence of curiosity, wonder, and the courage to imagine without limitations or worry of judgement. At the end of the day no matter your age you can decide whether you are a creator or a consumer of the world you live in. Continue to work the system and the routines that society has set up for you to continue to build a life personally, professionally, and financially. But do not kick all your creative thoughts to the curb. Hold onto it and exercise it as much as you can. You never know what may come from it.
